Healthy Start in Child Care is one of the components of the KIDS NOW initiative that was implemented in July 2000. The goals of the program are:

bullet

to promote and protect the health and safety of children in away from home child care

bullet

to promote collaboration and coordination with the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, as well as other agencies with responsibilities for child care.

The population to be impacted by Healthy Start in Child Care includes the children and their families receiving out-of-home care. During the first five years, children of full time working parents may spend more time in out-of-home child care facilities, than they spend in school from kindergarten to high school.  Child Care Health Consultants have received intensive training in health, safety, and nutrition issues for young children.  Contact your local health center or call Rita Sympson at 270-247-1490 to schedule a visit or obtain more information.
