Wonderful News!   FREE Dental Education!

  We are offering free dental education presentations in February for area 1st grade classes. The presentation will include a puppet show starring Flossy "the southern tooth" and Chomps "the Hispanic dog", instructional demonstrations, and a free dental care kit for each student. With the rising need for dental education, the Purchase District Health Department will be partnering with several area dental professionals in the American Dental Association "Give Kids a Smile" campaign. We hope to reach all of the 1st grade students within our district because we know that dental care is imperative with their permanent teeth forming after their primary teeth. According to the CDC, nearly half of U.S. children ages 2-9 suffer from untreated tooth decay. While poor diet and oral hygiene certainly play a role, cavities are usually caused by a disease called Caries, which is five times more common than asthma.
